The Gainsborough Ghost tour is a site-specific, immersive performance project developed in collaboration with the Gainsborough Heritage Centre and local young people. The project forms part of The Future of the Past, a National Heritage Lottery Fund supported programme.

The Future of the Past project aims to support heritage venues to become more sustainable, diverse, and creative, while enabling young people to gain skills, build confidence, and develop a lasting connection with their heritage.

The Gainsborough Ghost tour places young people at the heart of the creative process. Participants aged 11–18 are working closely with Taylor Made Arts to choose the stories featured in the walk, develop characters and scripts, record voiceovers, and contribute to the design of the event.

On the performance days, young people will appear throughout the route, delivering short live performances and two shadow-based performance pieces that punctuate the journey.
