Awarded TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2019

The Gainsborough Heritage Centre in their twenty-fifth anniversary year has been awarded the 2019 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. The team are very pleased to have achieved this award as the Certificate accounts for the quality and quantity of recent reviews submitted by travellers on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period. To qualify a business or organisation must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months and the Centre has achieved all of the above.

Current Chairman Andrew Birkitt said: ‘This is a fabulous achievement for the team of volunteers that work tirelessly to ensure that our visitors have a great experience when they come to the Heritage Centre. I thank all of them for making this award possible, I am really proud of all of you.’

Visitors are welcomed to the Centre as they walk through the entrance into the main shop area and a brief history of the building and exhibits are explained to each visitor on arrival. Volunteers assist visitors by answering any questions, helping visitors in the research library with their access to resources for family history or local heritage research as well as discussing the fantastic exhibits and collection of objects that the Centre protects and preserves.

A recent TripAdvisor comment said, ‘a hidden gem, well worth a visit. Free entry, three floors of interesting heritage. Amazing if you are tracing your family history the top floor is given over to local archives including newspaper articles and photographs. Stop for a drink and a slice of homemade cake at very reasonable prices.’ There are many more fantastic comments on the Centre’s TripAdvisor page including, ‘a great place to spend an afternoon, full of interesting and informative facts about the town and its past. The staff were extremely helpful and went the extra mile in helping to find information about my family who had all worked at Marshall’s in the past. Totally free with a small cafe attached.’
